Borrowers

Understand the steps before you begin.

A clear funding process explains what is being assessed, who makes the decision and what is needed next. Regalis outlines the route that applies to your transaction at the start.

The relationship

A sequence of decisions and conditions

An initial indication helps determine whether further assessment is worthwhile. It is different from formal approval and does not mean that funds are available for settlement.

As the transaction progresses, information may be requested by the finance team, an external lender, a valuer or legal advisers. We explain the purpose of the request and how it affects the next stage.

Before signing, the borrower should understand the total costs, security, conditions and repayment obligations. After settlement, the facility terms govern reporting, payments and any request for a change.

Understand what each stage actually means

A first conversation establishes the requirement and the parties. An indicative assessment explores whether a scenario could progress; it is not the same as credit approval or a commitment to settle. Proposed terms can be subject to further information, valuation, legal review and other conditions. Understand what remains unresolved at each stage.

When Regalis acts as finance broker, the external provider controls its own assessment and approval. A direct funding proposal follows the process of the identified funding entity. An external broker may coordinate communication for the client, while an referral partner generally makes the initial handover. Agreed roles help avoid conflicting requests and give the borrower a clear point of contact. Ask what decision is being sought next and who is responsible for supplying the remaining information.

The process, explained

  1. 01

    Describe the requirement

Start with the amount required, use of funds, timing and source of repayment. Identify the borrower and any broker or adviser involved so communication follows an agreed route from the outset.

  2. 02

    Confirm the funding relationship

The team considers whether the scenario may be assessed for direct funding or through Regalis acting as finance broker. The proposed lender, service provider, costs and responsibilities are explained as the structure develops.

  3. 03

    Review evidence and proposed terms

Detailed assessment can involve financial records, valuation, security review and legal documentation. Read the proposed costs, conditions, payment obligations and exit assumptions together. Raise missing information and changes promptly, before relying on an indicative position.

  4. 04

    Document, settle and monitor

A transaction proceeds only when the relevant decision maker approves it and required conditions are met. After settlement, follow the facility reporting and repayment requirements and discuss material changes before an obligation is missed.

Questions before you proceed

When should I obtain legal or other advice?

Allow time to understand the proposed facility and security documents before signing. Your adviser can help explain the obligations, guarantees and consequences relevant to your circumstances. Raise questions while there is time for clarification.

What happens after settlement?

The facility terms govern payments, reporting, drawdowns and repayment. Maintain current records, monitor the exit timetable and raise material changes early. A change in amount, term, security or structure may require a fresh review and approval.

Start a considered conversation

A clear initial outline helps identify the next decision and the evidence needed to support it. Include the proposed timing and any complication that could affect the structure. Further information and transaction-specific terms follow through the appropriate assessment process.
